The dot remained stationary. The timestamp read 4:23 PM yesterday. His flight had landed at 3:50. Driving from the airport to that station? Half an hour max. So, shortly after leaving the airport, his signal stopped there—never moving again. 4:23 PM... gas station... car... a frozen signal... horrific scenarios flooded my mind. Accident? Hijacking? Breakdown? Worse? Cold sweat drenched my already chilled shirt. "I’ll go find him!" I rasped.




The Last Signal and Grim Possibilities
Only one thought consumed me: get to that station. Now. Immediately. "Sis, stay here in case he calls..." I spun toward my room for keys and wallet. "No!" she screamed, seizing my arm again, grip fiercer. "I have to go! I can't... waiting here will drive me mad!" Tears streamed, her eyes wild with despair and fierce resolve. "Take me... please..." Outside, rain had begun to fall heavily, pounding against the windows.


Instinctive Action and Her Relentless Resolve
The car filled with the sour tang of her fear mingled with leather, stifling the air. Wipers on full blast fought the torrential downpour on the windshield. Streetlights blurred into hazy orbs through the rain. I gripped the wheel, knuckles white, foot heavy on the accelerator. Beside me, she huddled, body trembling uncontrollably, teeth chattering faintly above the engine’s roar. Her eyes fixed unblinking on the dark road ahead, as if seeking salvation.
