A Surprise Visit
Just as David began to lose hope, Monika and Greg returned. He quickly hid, his heart pounding. "I need to stay calm," he told himself. They sat at their usual table, laughing and chatting. David watched intently, noting every detail.
"What’s really going on here?" he wondered, feeling a mix of anger and sadness. Their interaction seemed too close for mere colleagues. David felt his suspicions harden into certainty. "This is more than friendship," he concluded.
Seeing the Signs
As he continued to watch, David noticed more signs of intimacy. Monika leaned in closer to Greg, her smile genuine and warm. Greg whispered something, making Monika laugh. David felt a pang of jealousy and hurt. "How long has this been going on?" he wondered.
Greg then placed a hand on Monika’s arm, a seemingly casual gesture that felt loaded with meaning. "They’re definitely more than friends," David thought, anger simmering.
The Kiss
Just as David thought he couldn’t feel worse, Greg leaned in and kissed Monika, but this time, it was on the mouth. Monika smiled, not pulling away. David’s chest tightened. "I can’t watch this," he thought, fighting back tears.
