Gathering Courage
David spent the next few days gathering the courage to confront Monika. Each day at the diner felt like torture, his emotions a constant whirlwind. "I need to be strong," he told himself, trying to focus on his plan. He continued observing, hoping to gather more evidence.
Finally, he decided he had enough. "I have to confront her," he resolved, feeling a mix of dread and determination. The time for answers had come.
The Confrontation
David finally confronted Monika at home. “We need to talk,” he said, his voice trembling. Monika looked worried. “What’s wrong, David?” He took a deep breath. “I know about you and Greg. I’ve seen you together, the kisses, the intimacy.” Monika’s face paled. “David, I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you.”
Tears streamed down her face as she confessed, “I’ve been having an affair with Greg.” David felt his world shatter.
Confession and Heartbreak
Monika’s confession hit David like a tidal wave. “Why, Monika? Wasn’t I enough?” he asked, his voice breaking. Monika sobbed, “It just happened. I didn’t plan it, but Greg and I connected in ways I can’t explain.” David felt a mix of anger and sorrow.
“How long?” he demanded. “A few months,” she replied, guilt in her eyes. David’s heart ached. “I need time to think,” he said, leaving her standing there.
